Who is Mamu?
We are a team of marketers, restaurateurs, software engineers and business professionals, all with a common goal of bringing fresh, healthy, prepared food to consumers. We started Mamu to help digital first food vendors grow, and to help customers by providing a comparison shopping experience among leading digital food vendors.
Who are your vendors?
Our vendors are “digital-first” food providers, meaning they cook in a commercial kitchen but do not have a storefront or dining room. We carefully curate vendors based on quality. We try every vendor we work with and set high a high standard when considering new vendors. Because most of our vendors are local, small businesses, when you shop with Mamu you’re helping support local entrepreneurs and in-turn your community.
How is this different from GrubHub/BlueApron/et all?
GrubHub, UberEats, etc. work with local brick-and-mortar restaurants to provide on-demand delivery services, and generally the target customer is someone who wants food within an hour. Unfortunately in many cases that food shows up cold and is expensive, nor is it made with your health in mind. Mamu’s vendors typically don’t have storefronts and with the rare exception, most don’t sell food on-demand. Instead, food is ordered in advanced, cooked for you, then delivered to you or provided for pickup. Our vendors are similar to Blue Apron in that consumers are getting high quality food, but Mamu’s vendors are different in that no cooking is required. Meals are fully prepared.
What's the food like?
Our vendors sell fully prepared meals that are fresh, healthy, and generally preservative free. Your food is delivered chilled and in a container designed to keep your food fresh until you’re ready to eat. Because this food is prepped with the intention of being re-heated, menus are created using ingredients and food types that hold up well through refrigeration and heating. In some instances our vendors can meet specific diet needs.
What's the shelf life of the food?
Most of our vendors advise that food be consumed within five days of receiving the food. Our vendors design menus with shelf life in mind.
How does delivery work?
Generally our vendors deliver food within a two to four hour window, and food is provided in an insulated bag designed to keep your food chilled until it hits your fridge. If you have specific requests for delivery you can let your vendor know during the checkout process.
Can I order from multiple vendors?
Unfortunately right now we cannot support orders across multiple vendors.
Where do you sell?
We currently work with vendors in the Charlotte, NC metropolitan area, although our goal is to expand to new markets as demand for prepared meals allows.
